All fans of Mel Lewis will love this in depth biography by drummer/author Chris Smith.

"The View from the Back of the Band"  has equal amounts of history, interviews, anecdotes,

and transcriptions.

Drum gear fans will enjoy the "equipment" section, although the mention of the Mel Lewis stick by Bop Works

rankles a little.
